A homework routine can help foster a sense of order for your child that can then be applied to other areas of his or her life. Work with your child to determine the elements of the routine – the when, where and what. This will help your child feel more in control of their academic studies.
Once the homework routine is established, your child can get started independently. This establishes executive function organization skills and reinforces your child's academic ability. In later years when more independent study is required, the homework routine will come in extra handy.
As parents, it is your job to establish study habits at an early age that will set your child up for success.
